“It is possible that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community—a community practicing understanding and loving kindness, a community practicing mindful living. This may be the most important thing we can do for the survival of the earth."
This last week Thich Nhat Hahn passed away at the age of 95. A truly wonderful man, he walked in this world with such deep wisdom, compassion and presence. The ripple effect of his life has been far and wide.
His legacy lives on each day in my household as Andrew and I make our morning pots of tea and then sit together with our special cups and sip our tea as the sun rises and the day begins.
“Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the whole earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. Live the actual moment. Only this moment is life.”
May his spirit live on in each of you and in our community of practice together.
With love,
Peri (and Barbara)
