Every month as the last Sunday starts heading my direction, there is a sense of quiet relief. After all these years it is like all of me – body, heart, spirit – starts heading towards that personal, inner garden where I alone enter and live. What used to be scary and somehow felt foreign now seems to be my deepest place of companionship.
I was scrolling through my file of quotes and options this morning and I came across this piece from St. Teresa of Avila. It seems fitting for this month. Enjoy.
This magnificent refuge is inside you. Enter. Shatter the darkness that shrouds the doorway…
Be bold. Be humble. Put away the incense and forget the incantations they taught you. Ask no permission from the authorities. Close your eyes and follow your breath to the still place that leads to the invisible path that leads you home.
