Spring Moon at Ninomiya Beach, 1931, by Hasui Kawase
Dear friends,
We are writing you a bit early, feeling the urge to stand together in a vigil of deep silence this week, leading into our Day of Chosen Silence next Sunday. Today it feels like the 15 years of this monthly ritual has given us the blessed experience of holding steady, faithful in the face of chaos and uncertainty.
May we keep our creative juices flowing, care for the immediate close-by, love the earth and all her beings, and cherish the moments of silence that connect us to a universal wellspring of life. With these we water the world, and our words and movements carry weight. We are so grateful for you.
Cheyne Morris sent us an article in which some of the greatest, most sensitive writers of all time speak of solitude. If you would like to wander through Maria Popova’s inspiring pathway into the generative world of silence, do gift yourself. Papova writes, "Gathered here are some of my favorite voices in praise of solitude, of its ample creative and spiritual rewards, its primal sanities."
With blessings,
Barbara and Peri
